Say as little as possible until a lawyer is present, and ask immediately for permission to contact one — statements given to police are used at trial and are difficult to walk back later. We can usually be reached and briefed within hours.
02 Is a bounced cheque still a criminal matter in the UAE?
Bounced cheques were largely decriminalised for civil debt in 2022, but criminal liability can still apply in cases involving bad faith, such as a cheque issued on a closed account or with intent to defraud. We assess which route — civil recovery or criminal complaint — applies to your cheque.
